This article describes how to update Virtual CD OPS or NMS v6 to version 7.
The update of Virtual CD NMS v6 to version 7 can be done as follows:
Install Virtual CD NMS v7. During the installation of the system components of NMS the installer will recognize that there is a previous version of NMS installed. The installer will prompt you to choose whether to take over the existing data.
Then the Virtual CD NMS v6 service will be stopped and set to manual start.
After the installation please delete the old data share from Virtual CD NMS v6 and share the new data folder of Virtual CD NMS v7 (set full access for Everyone!).
After the first start of the Virtual CD NMS v7 Administration the data for accessing the NMS service are to be entered.
All stations which connected to Virtual CD NMS v6 are now automatically connected to Virtual CD NMS v7 assumed the same connection port is used.
As soon as you're sure that your system is running with the new version of NMS without any problems you should uninstall Virtual CD NMS v6.
Please be aware that Virtual CD NMS version 6 and version 7 are not compatible, i.e. the NMS Administration v6 will not work together with the NMS v7 service. Note: Please export the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\H+H Software GmbH\VCD Network Management Server\License BEFORE the deinstallation. All Virtual CD NMS versions manage the Virtual CD license keys in this key. Thus this key will be deleted by the deinstallation of Virtual CD NMS v6/v7. The REG file will allow you to restore the key afterwards.
Installation of version 7 with Virtual CD OPS installed:
We recommend to uninstall Virtual CD OPS and then install Virtual CD NMS v7 on the same server:
The previously entered license keys of Virtual CD OPS will be taken over.
All stations which connected to Virtual CD OPS are now automatically connected to Virtual CD NMS v7 assumed the same connection port is used.
Please be aware that the stistical data of Virtual CD OPS will be lost!
Share the data folder of Virtual CD NMS v7 (set full access for Everyone!).
After the first start of the Virtual CD NMS v7 Administration the data for accessing the NMS service (server name, port and data share) and the reistered virtual CDs are to be entered.
Save the settings and restart the Virtual CD NMS Administration.
Another possibility is to install Virtual CD NMS v7 on another server, so that the statistical data of Virtual CD OPS will not be lost. Please be aware that this will require that the Clients have to connect manually to the new server!
