Types of Blanks

In addition to the CD types described in the previous section, Virtual CD supports a number of different types of blank media. These are supported for assembling data, copying media and using the virtual burner. There are basically 2 types of blanks:

Write-once CD – Data is written consecutively; when the writing process is finished, this medium contains exactly the same amount of data written during that particular process.
Re-writable CD – Data can be written on any part of the blank at any time. To enable this capability, the total capacity of the virtual blank is defined when the blank is created.

Virtual CD supports the following types of blank:

CD-R, CD-RW
DVD-R, DVD-R DL, DVD-RW
DVD+R, DVD+R DL, DVD+RW
DVD-RAM
HD-DVD-R, HD-DVD-R DL
Blu-ray-R, Blu-ray-R DL, Blu-ray-RE, Blu-ray-RE DL
