With the "Empty Media Wizard" as of Virtual CD v8 you can create a variety of virtual blank media.
With the virtual burner you can burn virtual CDs from any application. Thus you always have a burner available in your system, even on computers with no physical burner.
Questions:
Why is it not possible to create a Virtual CD-RW disk over the "Empty Media Wizard" which you'd be able to delete using the "Eraser Wizard"?
Is it possible to write data on an inserted empty virtual medium via drag&drop?
Answers:
Instead of a RW-Medium a virtual DVD-RAM can be created using the Empty Media Wizard (vc8genwz.exe, X is the version of Virtual CD). The size of this virtual DVD-RAM can be reduced from the default size of 4,48 GB to 600 MB. Attention! During creation a 000-file will be created as well that has the specified size! Make sure you have enough disk space!
You can insert this medium in the "Virtual DVD-RAM drive" and format it with Fat32. Then you can use the virtual DVD-RAM just like a drive: You can add files with drag&drop and delete them. Hint: A virtual blank disk can also be protected with a password and encrypted so that you can even have an encrypted "hard disk" by encrypting a virtual DVD-RAM! Attention! Windows offers you the function to drag and drop files in the Windows Explorer to the burner. In order for this to work, you have to switch on the function "Enable CD recording on this drive" in the drive properties under "Recording" (see also the MS KB article http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en;826510&spid=1173&sid=774).
If the CD-recording function is active, this virtual DVD-RAM drive can no longer be used as a fixed disk!
With the Eraser Wizard you can "delete" the virtual DVD-RAM. Then it will again be unformatted.
